Where technique is learned and friends are made

Emily Tanzella

Emily started dancing at the age of 2, training at Helene Joy School of Dance before enrolling at NSDA in 2011. She has studied tap, ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, and hip hop, with tap being her favorite to both perform and teach. Emily’s teaching experience began as an assistant choreographer for the middle school theatre program in Beverly, and she worked my way up to choreographing shows on her own. She enjoys getting to know all of her students, and helping them to become the best dancers and people they can be both in and out of the classroom. Emily is currently a junior at Endicott College, where she continues her dance training through various technique classes and performance opportunities. Emily is also pursuing a dance minor, is eager to use what she learned to teach a new generation of dancers. When not dancing, she enjoys playing the drums. Emily was a proud member of her high school’s marching band in the drumline for four years, and lead the entire section for two years. Emily grew up admiring and respecting the teachers she had while at NSDA, and I’m grateful to be joining such a passionate and talented staff.
